Adder Technology incorporates ExtremeUSB® technology into the Adderlink X Series X-USB KVM extender

BURNABY, BC January 20, 2005 – Icron Technologies Corporation (TSX Venture Exchange: IT.V), announced that Adder Technology Ltd. of Cambridge, UK, is the latest manufacturer to embed Icron’s ExtremeUSB® technology into their X-USB KVM extender. The X Series X-USB is targeted at banks, data centres and other high-density environments where optimization of rack space is essential. The system extends full speed USB, RGB video and analog audio over distances of up to 100 metres (325 ft.) using CATx UTP cable.

The global market for keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) switches reached US$545 million in 2002 and is expected to grow to US$927 million by 2006, a compound annual growth rate of over 15%, according to VDC, a technology market research firm.

“When we required USB extension expertise, it was a natural step to engage Icron. We were delighted by the ease of integration of the ExtremeUSB sub-system into our project, and we were equally impressed with Icron’s system-level expertise in this area,” commented Adrian Dickens, Managing Director of Adder.

Adder joins a growing list OEM manufacturers that have chosen ExtremeUSB® as a robust and reliable means of extending USB over a variety of media. The ExtremeUSB® protocol has been deployed within OEM packaged products, in turnkey systems and as a Core product, allowing for even greater integration USB extension capability. Icron expects to launch a wireless variation of its ExtremeUSB® protocol early this year.

As USB technology continues to gain momentum in KVM, commercial and light industrial markets, ExtremeUSB® will become the premiere serial extension technology for control panels, medical equipment and security systems. Icron has committed to further developing its protocol to be available in a number of configurations, ensuring that its technology is available in the right format, and at the right price point.

“The integration of ExtremeUSB® into Adder’s KVM extension systems demonstrates Icron’s ability to provide flexible options on a timely basis and the overall viability of our royalty-based licensing model,” said Robert Eisses, VP Sales & Marketing at Icron.
