ExtremeUSB® extension solutions on demonstration at the ITE Show from December 3 – 5th at Pacifico Yokohama, Japan
Burnaby, British Columbia – December 2, 2014 – Bay Technologies Inc., a distributor of USB and Video extenders, and embedded products relevant to them, today announced that it will be demonstrating Icron Technologies’ USB 3.0 Spectra™ series extenders at the International Technical Exhibition on Imaging Technology and Equipment (ITE) 2014 in Yokohama, Japan. Bay Technologies will be showcasing the USB 3.0 Spectra 3001-15, a 15-meter active extension cable, and the USB 3.0 Spectra 3022 100-meter fiber based extender.
The ITE Show covers a wide scope of applications ranging from security, information technology services, robotics, machine vision, and medical technology. USB 3.0 is relevant to the show since its fast throughput of 5Gbs supports a new generation of memory devices and high performance cameras. A drawback to USB 3.0 adoption across commercial and industrial use-cases is the operational distance limitation of approximately five meters. Icron Technologies addresses this distance barrier by offering two USB 3.0 extension products.
For short range extension applications, the Spectra 3001-15 is a bus powered copper cable that extends USB 3.0 at 15 meters while providing a full 5V, 900mA of current. If longer extension is required, Icron’s Spectra 3022 extender system has the capability to extend up to 100 meters and beyond over multimode OM3 fiber optic cabling. Both extenders support throughputs of 5Gbps and feature locking connectors per the AIA USB3 Vision™ specification. Additionally, the extenders come with a two-year warranty and include the ExtremeUSB® suite of features such as transparent USB extension, true plug and play (no software drivers) and compatibility with all major operating systems including Windows® 8.
