Senior QA and Customer Support Engineer
Burnaby, BC
The Opportunity:
You will take responsibility for ensuring the overall product quality for all of Icron's products by contributing to our development, test, manufacturing and customer support efforts. This job will be with a small but dedicated team of customer support and quality assurance engineers whose goals are to provide excellent support to all Icron customers and to ensure optimal product quality for all engineering designs, both prior and post release to production.
Example tasks include:
- Write, coordinate and implement system/regression test procedures for firmware/software release
- Provide and coordinate all levels of customer support from first level call management to application level support and OEM design support
- Develop, measure and enforce product release requirements
- Manage bug reporting database
- Manage, procure, and maintain test equipment such as different host systems and various USB devices
- Manage multiple simultaneous product testing and release schedules
- Provide customer feedback to Sales and Marketing, as well as Engineering and Manufacturing groups to improve product performance and new product development
- Evaluate new/competing technologies in QA test lab
- Set up demo systems for system evaluation and trade shows
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be computer savvy, be enthusiastic about technology and hardware design, have the ability to learn quickly, have proven initiative, strong problem solving skills, and be able to prioritize, organize and excel in a fast paced multi-faceted work environment.
Required background:
- Minimum 5 years work experience in a Quality Assurance, System Test or Customer Support Engineer role in the High-Tech industry
- Proficient in different computer host systems and consumer electronics market requirements
- Minimum Bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Engineering Physics
Experience in some of the following fields is required:
- System level test and verification
- Bug reporting and management
- Customer/Application Support
- PC hardware maintenance and assembly
- Consumer electronics research
- Hardware prototyping, soldering, troubleshooting, repair
- Subjective and objective video quality test procedures
- Windows XP, Vista, 7, OS X, Linux operating systems
- EHCI, UHCI, OHCI, and XHCI operations
- Computer and A/V Peripherals
- USB 2.0 operations
- Video transmission/compression standards
- TCP/IP or other networking protocols
- Wireless technologies
- EMC compliance standards and test procedures
- Clear, concise, and complete technical report writing
- Lab equipment usage (oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, etc.)
