Digital Designer - Intermediate
Burnaby, BC
The Opportunity:
You are an exceptional Digital Design Engineer with a strong background in design of complex digital systems. You possess excellent design skills and have a strong record of fast and effective development. You are highly motivated to take the lead in solving problems and have excellent analytical skills. You have a broad knowledge of system and communications principles, coupled with the desire to apply those skills within the framework of solid engineering practices and discipline. Working independently or as a part of the team you will be designing leading edge digital circuits for USB, audio and video extension products for various transmission mediums such as Ethernet, IP, fiber and wireless.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and simulate FPGA RTL modules in VHDL and Verilog using the Xilinx and Altera product families.
- Conduct requirements Analysis and Specifications writing for the FPGA modules.
- Design high speed digital interface to work with different video compression engines
- Design and implement DDR, SDR memory interfaces
- Work with Micro-blaze and other embedded system processors
- Work closely with hardware, software engineers to bring up and debug the system.
Qualifcations and skill sets:
- BSc degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
- 3-5 years experience in VHDL/Verilog FPGA/ASIC design including coding , simulation, logic synthesis, and timing analysis.
- Experience with Xilinx FPGA and EDK/XPS tool flow.
- Knowledge of ChipScope and other FPGA debug tools
- Experience with lab equipments such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and USB bus analyzers.
- Good understanding of complex digital systems
- Experience with USB protocol a big asset.
- Experience with embedded C programming a big asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Embedded Software Design Engineer

FPGA/ASIC Verification Engineer

You are an exceptional Verification engineer with a strong background in verification of complex digital systems. You are able to see the "big picture", possess excellent analytical and presentation skills, have a strong record of fast and effective development, and are highly motivated to take the lead in solving problems. You have a broad knowledge of system and communications principles, coupled with the desire to apply those skills within the framework of solid engineering practice and discipline.
Responsibilities:
- Verify complete System-On-Chip designs
- Employ coverage-driven and constrained random-driven verification techniques to ensure high quality silicon
- Create and maintain system-level simulation environments using SystemVerilog
- Develop verification test plans
- Write and execute test cases as per verification test plans
- Identify and report design bugs and work effectively with the design team to achieve timely resolution
- Prepare and run gate simulations
- Work effectively with hardware/software teams
Requirements:
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- At least 3 years in Verification with a strong background in digital design or software design
- Experience with SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, C/C++, Tcl/Perl
- Experience with ModelSim simulation environment to run large self-checking testbenches
- Experience with wired and wireless data communication and protocols, such as USB / TCP/IP / 802.11 / Bluetooth
- Experience with hardware/software co-simulation
- Experience with embedded system design
- Knowledge of ASIC design flow from concept through tape-out, including logic design, synthesis, timing analysis, formal verification, and working with foundries
- Excellent analytical and debugging skills; proactive in problem solving
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated ability to motivate self and others towards team results
