Intermediate/Senior Hardware Design Engineer
Burnaby, BC

We are building a first-class engineering team, with a requirement for a keen, intellectually agile, and proficient hardware design engineer to contribute to the evolution of our patented USB bridging technology.

The Candidate
You are a skilled and proactive hardware design engineer with 4-7 years of relevant experience, are an excellent communicator, and have a consistent record of producing desired results. 

You are willing and able to take ownership of hardware design projects of moderate to high complexity and scale under the technical guidance of more senior engineering staff.

You have demonstrated proficiency in: 

• Specification and other documentation
• Component selection balancing features, cost, power, size and availability
• Schematic capture and PCB layout
• FPGA development
• Hardware verification and lab debugging

And knowledge and experience in the following areas:

• Interconnection technology (Ethernet, 802.11, USB, PLC) and digital video technology (DVI, HDMI, etc.)
• FPGAs, processors, DSP devices, power supplies, and clocking elements
• DFT and DFM, manufacturing support, and cost control
• ESD and EMI mitigation.  Design support for FCC, CE and other approvals

You will be a key contributor to our development efforts, and must be proficient in working within a mixed software/hardware/FPGA/ASIC development environment. 
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in Canada and will have completed at least a Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Engineering or related field.

Junior FPGA/ASIC Design and Verification Engineer

As a FPGA/ASIC Design and Verification Engineer, your role will be to contribute to the evolution of Icron’s patented USB bridging technology and Icron’s video extension technology as a key contributor to our design and verification efforts.

The Candidate
You are an exceptional Engineer with a background in digital systems. You are able to see the "big picture", possess excellent analytical and presentation skills, have a strong record of fast and effective development, and are highly motivated to take the lead in solving problems. You have a broad knowledge of system and communications principles, coupled with the desire to apply those skills within the framework of solid engineering practice and discipline.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, implement and simulate block level modules in Verilog
• Write and execute system level test cases in SystemVerilog as per verification test plans
• Work closely with hardware and software engineers to bring up debug systems
• Work with high speed interface protocols, USB2.0, USB3.0, PCIe, HDMI, DP, DDR2/3
• Write scripts in perl , Tcl, and Make

Requirements

• B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• Design and verification experience gained through course work, projects, and work terms
• Proficient in Verilog
• Experience developing in a Linux environment
• Excellent analytical and debugging skills; proactive in problem solving
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and teamwork skills
• Demonstrated ability to motivate self and others towards team results
• Experience with simulation tools
• Familiar with Xilinx and or Altera toolsets
