New RG2304GE-LAN optimized to extend USB 2.0 at 480Mbps over Local Area Networks (LAN)
Burnaby, British Columbia – May 2, 2013 – Icron Technologies Corporation, a leader in USB and video extension technology, today announced product additions to its USB over Network 2304 series with several new models, anchored by the USB 2.0 RG2304GE-LAN.
The RG2304GE-LAN is optimized for video matrix switches, command and control, and KVM network extension over high bandwidth Local Area Networks, with 1Gbps LAN being the minimum requirement. All USB 2.0 and 1.1 device types are supported including isochronous web cameras and audio devices. USB 3.0 devices are also supported but only up to 480Mbps.
Incorporating Icron’s ExtremeUSB® suite of features, the 2304 product family does not require software drivers and works with all operating systems; enabling plug and play installation for Windows®, Mac OS X® and Linux®. All 2304 variants support full USB 2.0 bandwidth. The LAN and GE-LAN models include support for Icron’s SwitchableUSB™ protocol enabling applications or systems to manage the host and peripheral USB connections.
“We are very pleased to add more configurations to our USB over Network extender family,” said Robert Haefling, Icron Technologies President and CEO. “We have optimized models for either low or high bandwidth networks, something no one else has done. Moreover, our USB over Network products are compatible with SwitchableUSB™ for dynamic pairing of local and remote extenders, offering the flexibility of turning an OEM video matrix switch into a KVM network switch,” added Haefling.
All models of the 2304 family are now commercially available.
