Mightex Systems and Icron Technologies Announce USB 3.0 Joint Product Interoperability

Mightex endorses USB 3.0 extenders with ExtremeUSB® technology.

Burnaby, British Columbia – January 6, 2016 – Icron Technologies Corporation, a leader in USB and video extension technology, and Mightex Systems, a leading supplier of photonic products and services for a broad spectrum of applications including industrial imaging, bio-photonic solutions and machine vision, today announced joint product interoperability between Mightex’s USB 3.0 CMOS cameras and Icron’s USB 3.0 extension series: the 15-meter USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3001-15 active copper extension cable and the 100-meter USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3022 fiber based extender system.

Mightex’s ultrafast USB 3.0 cameras are designed for applications that require high-speed or multiple cameras. These cameras are equipped with a super-speed USB 3.0 interface that can deliver a transfer rate of up to 400 Megabytes per second and incorporate a fast, high-definition Aptina 5-Megapixel CMOS image sensor capable of delivering up to 14 frames-per-second (fps) in full resolution and up to 350 fps using ROI (Region of Interest) mode. Mightex USB 3.0 cameras are suited for industrial applications requiring large amounts of data to be processed and transferred from the camera to the computer. These ultra-compact cameras have external trigger-in, strobe-out and a powerful engine that supports multiple camera operations; as well as a user-friendly GUI based application and software developer kit for custom development.

Icron’s Spectra series of extenders provide the ideal extension solution for all USB 3.0 applications. For short range operation, the Spectra 3001-15 is a bus powered copper cable that extends USB 3.0 at 15 meters while providing a full 5V, 900mA of current. If longer extension is required, the Spectra 3022 extender system has the capability to extend up to 100 meters and beyond over multimode OM3 fiber optic cabling. Both extenders support throughputs of 5 Gbps and feature locking connectors per the AIA USB3 Vision™ specification. Additionally, the extenders come with a two-year warranty and include the ExtremeUSB® suite of features such as transparent USB extension, true plug and play (no software drivers) and compatibility with all major operating systems: Windows®, OS X® and Linux®.

“Extensive testing is done with third party products before making any endorsements,” said Daniel Wen, Senior Manager, Customer Solutions at Mightex. “We ran Icron’s ExtremeUSB extenders in continuous operation with our USB 3.0 cameras over a fifteen-hour period without issue and therefore are pleased to recommend only the Spectra series when longer distances are required.”

“High quality and reliability are key hallmarks of Mightex cameras,” said Glenn Antonelli, Vice President of Marketing at Icron. “We are therefore very pleased that Mightex advises their customers and installers to use our ExtremeUSB extenders for applications requiring more than three meters.”
