Icron Buzz :  Technology Demos at CES

Last month, Icron Technologies generated significant buzz about it's three new technologies demonstrated at International CES 2010 in Las Vegas, NV. Icron's new 802.11n technology that turns any TV in the home into an interactive PC was very well received, with significant press coverage and customer interest. Currently, Icron is discussing with OEM partners the productization of the technology for the consumer market. Review Icron's PC-on-TV datasheet.

Icron also demonstrated its Video + USB Extension technologies over Cat 5 for Remote Desktops for industrial and enterprise applications delivering high resolution PC Video and true USB 2.0 at up to 100m. Icron’s ExtremeUSB® adds remote USB capability to the HDBaseT technology, allowing PC’s to be remotely connected to the TV with mouse, keyboard, game controllers, flash drive, webcam and other USB peripheral I/O support. The combination of the two leading technologies enables OEMs to have a solution for interactive long distance point-to-point PC connectivity, and full HD multimedia distribution via low cost cables for consumer markets. Lastly, Icron demonstrated its USB over DisplayPort technology featuring USB 2.0 + DisplayPort Video using a Standard DisplayPort cable. The ability to add USB to the DisplayPort specification gives DP a unique feature that will add many new applications for the technology including the ability to create docking station monitors, low cost zero client workstations, and daisy chained monitors with integrated USB peripherals as well as many other new unique customer use cases. IHSE GmbH is a recognized technology leader in Video and KVM switching, extension and conversion. Based in Germany, the Company offers cutting-edge technology products for distribution and switching of PC desktop Video and KVM signals over Cat 5 or Fiber Optic cables.

For IHSE’s new line of Single/Dual Link, Single/Dual Head DVI + Audio KVM extenders, the company wanted to move beyond standard keyboard and mouse desktops and support the Billions of USB peripheral I/O devices in the market. In particular, IHSE wanted to add true USB 2.0 connectivity to provide flexibility and a rich desktop experience to their customers. IHSE had the added challenge of matching the USB connection reach to their DVI extension technology; up to 140m over Cat 5 and 10km over fiber optics. They found their solution with Icron’s ExtremeUSB® technology.

“Our partnership with Icron helped us stay focused on our core business of designing sophisticated video extension and switching technologies for demanding customer applications, stated Dr. Enno Littmann, COO of IHSE. "The combination of Icron’s proven ExtremeUSB® technology and excellent engineering support significantly reduced our product development time and minimized our risk,” added Littmann.
