ICRON strengthens patent portfolio for Wireless USB program

BURNABY, B.C., March 22, 2005 - Icron Technologies Corporation (TSX Venture: IT), the developers of ExtremeUSB® announced that it is strengthening its patent portfolio with additional filings on developments for its Wireless USB program.

The latest filing, titled “Method and apparatus for improving the performance of USB mass storage devices in the presence of long transmission delays”, builds upon earlier patents covering USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 range extension.

“Implementation of this new patent application provides the wireless user with performance comparable to a wired system. It is applicable to many types of storage device, such as flash drives, DVD/CD drives and external hard drives. The method can be used to accelerate the performance of wireless USB over any radio platform, but is particularly useful at the high data rates generated by Ultra Wideband (UWB) radios,” commented John McLeod, VP Engineering at Icron.
