Icron licenses USB Technology to Fortune
500 Medical Instruments Company
BURNABY, BC April 13, 2005 – Icron Technologies Corporation
(TSX.V:IT), today announced that a Boston based Fortune 500
provider of Medical Instruments technology has entered into
an agreement to license Icron’s USB technology.
This solution is not part of Icron’s ExtremeUSB technology,
but rather is a unique Isolated USB application. Icron’s
IsolatedUSB solution allows the signal from USB devices to
be electrically isolated from the computer processor, which
is required for sensitive medical instrument applications.
The Boston based company “prides itself on helping
physicians save lives and improving the quality of life for
patients”. Management believes that the company’s
desire to use Icron’s USB solutions is continued proof
of the quality of Icron’s Intellectual Property. Further,
the agreement shows Icron’s strengthening reputation
for its USB expertise.
As USB technology continues to gain momentum in KVM, commercial
and light industrial markets, Icron’s USB solutions
are becoming integral solutions for medical instrumentation
solutions, industrial control devices, security systems and
consumer electronics. Icron has committed to further developing
its technology to be available in a number of configurations,
ensuring that it is available in the right format, and at
the right price point.
“The integration of IsolatedUSB into this customers
Medical Instrument product line demonstrates Icron’s
ability to provide flexible USB solutions for both commercial
and consumer markets, and further supports our royalty-based
licensing model for our technology,” said Robert Eisses,
VP Sales & Marketing at Icron. “Icron is pleased
to be diversifying its customer base by providing USB solutions
to the quality focused medical device industry.”
