ICRON to debut Wireless USB prototype
on Freescale DS-UWB Chipset at Microsoft WinHEC Conference
BURNABY, B.C., April 25, 2005 - Icron Technologies Corporation
(TSX Venture: IT), the developers of ExtremeUSB® today
announced that it will be demonstrating its Wireless USB prototype
at Microsoft’s WinHEC conference in Seattle WA this
week.
As part of Icron’s Wireless USB program, the demonstration
will show the power of Icron’s ExtremeUSB protocol implemented
on the Freescale DS-UWB chipset. Icron’s Wireless USB
System is the first and only true cable replacement solution
that does not require any drivers or host controller changes,
resulting in a fully transparent solution for all existing
USB 1.1 and 2.0 devices in the market today.
Icron’s ExtremeUSB for Wireless technology can be integrated
and deployed over any wireless technology including UWB, 802.11b/g/a/n
or other proprietary 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz radio platforms.
“Offering the market wireless USB 2.0 solutions over
a variety of RF platforms gives the user the ultimate flexibility
for their applications. The USB market is not a one size fits
all scenario, with some users demanding longer ranges or other
unique performance options for their USB 1.1 or 2.0 applications”,
commented Robert Eisses, VP Sales & Marketing.
The primary benefit of Icron’s Wireless USB solution
is its existing USB 1.1 and 2.0 support, requiring no additional
drivers, host controller changes, or user configurations.
It is a true USB “plug and play” solution that
gives the user a wire-like USB experience. It supports most
operating systems including Windows, MAC OS, Linux, Unix and
Solaris with no changes required.
