BURNABY, B.C., August 16th, 2005 - Icron Technologies Corporation
(TSX Venture: IT), the developers of ExtremeUSB, today released
financial results for the second quarter 2005.
Highlights:
- Record Q2 2005 revenues of $1,070,620, representing a
33.1% increase over Q2 2004, which was primarily due to
the continued growth of the company’s Core OEM products,
USB Rovers, USB 2.0 and Fiber Ranger USB Extenders.
- 2005 year-to-date revenues at record $1,964,829, representing
a 34.1% increase over the same six-month period in 2004;
- Gross profit margin increasing to 48.1% in Q2 2005, from
46.9% for Q1 2005
- Signed a milestone non-exclusive licensing and royalty
agreement with Freescale Semiconductor for its “ExtremeUSB
for Wireless” technology that will be embedded into
Freescale’s next generation of UWB (Ultra Wideband)
chipsets
- Net loss for the quarter of $218,071, as compared to $86,509
in the same period of 2004, primarily attributed to the
accelerated development of the wireless USB initiative with
Freescale.
- Subsequent to the quarter closing, the Company raised
an additional $3,600,000 through a broker assisted private
placement further strengthening the Company’s balance
sheet.
Icron’s ExtremeUSB technology and products continues
to gain market share and solidify Icron’s position as
the industry leader in wired USB extension. Icron is also
increasing its position a significant participant in the Wireless
USB solution market with its milestone licensing agreement
sign with Freescale to embed its ExtremeUSB for Wireless technology
to in their entire Ultra wideband (UWB) chipset family.
Icron is in formal discussions with additional wireless companies
to integrate ExtremeUSB technology into a range of products
aimed at the consumer market.
In addition, general licensing revenues continue to grow
as ExtremeUSB becomes available to more OEM/ODM customers
in more form factors that allow partners to embed the solution
easily and cost effectively.
Suresh Singh, President and CEO commented. “The continued
growth in our traditional wired business, in addition to the
signing of our first significant licensing agreement with
Freescale, has again validated our corporate vision and model,
for ExtremeUSB as industries only USB–IF compliant extension
technology and the key enabler for true Wireless USB solutions.
The additional capital raised in early Q3 will help further
accelerate our growth in all market areas.”
Financials:
Revenue amounted to $1,070,620 for the three months ended
June 30, 2005, compared to $804,570 in the same period of
2004, an increase of 33.1%. The increase in revenue was across
the board but due primarily to an increase in the company’s
Core OEM products, USB Rovers, USB 2.0 and Fiber Rangers.
Core sales were strong during the quarter as they increased
80.1%, to $166,711 from the $92,558 recorded in the second
quarter of 2004. USB 2.0 Rangers, which began shipping in
the fourth quarter of 2004, contributed $142,723 to revenue
for the second quarter. Fiber Ranger’s sales totalled
$97,069, a 69.0% increase over the $57,438 recorded in the
previous year. Sales of the Company’s Rover USB extenders
increased by 47.5% to $129,096 from the $87,524 reported in
the same period of the prior year.
Royalty revenue was minimal during the quarter and no significant
royalty revenues from the agreement with Freescale Semiconductor
are expected until the first quarter of 2006, however, the
license fee portion of the Freescale transaction will be recognized
in the second half of 2005. We are optimistic about the continued
demand for both our packaged products and licensing opportunities
in the future.
Our net loss amounted to $218,071 or ($0.01) per share, in
the three months ended June 30, 2005, compared to a net loss
of $86,509, or ($0.01), in the same period of 2004. The increase
in the loss is directly attributable to the accelerated development
of the wireless initiative and costs associated with the Freescale
agreement
The Company ended the quarter with cash balances of $1,340,772
compared to $979,959 in the same period of the prior year.
Cash used by operating activities amounted to $208,721, compared
to cash provided by operating activities of $19,524 in the
same period of 2004. Our working capital has increased to
$1,831,327 at the quarter ending June 30, 2005, a significant
increase from the $1,398,952 reported in the second quarter
of 2004.
