“By focusing on our core ExtremeUSB technology and the
growing demand for both wired and wireless USB based solutions,
we have solidified our position as a leading provider of USB
extension solutions for our traditional niche and have also
proven our potential by entering the wireless USB market,”
commented Suresh Singh, President and CEO.
“As USB enabled solutions continue grow as the de-facto
connectivity interface for personal computing, consumer electronics
and the industrial and commercial markets, the company has
capitalized on this market, as more and more companies require
our patented technology to extend USB in a wide range of applications.”
In 2005, the company started shipping, in volume, the world’s
first USB 2.0 extension solution over UTP (CAT5) cabling.
This is a core part of our strategic growth plan, which includes
expanding our ExtremeUSB implementations to other wired implementations
such as USB 2.0 over fiber optics, power line, and TCP/IP.
Additional fiber based product were announced at the end of
2005, and will continue to add to the growth of the traditional
wired business for 2006.
In June 2005, the company signed a milestone licensing agreement
for its ExtremeUSB for wireless technology to Freescale Semiconductor
for its Ultra Wideband (UWB) platform. The company expects
royalties from this agreement to start in the second half
of 2006 as Tier One OEM customers start to release product
such as those announced at the CES 2005 (Consumer Electronics
Show) in Las Vegas. Icron, Freescale and its partners, were
recognized with multiple awards at the CES for its combined
Cable-Free USB solutions.
For 2006 the company will focus two key areas; expanding
its distribution for its traditional Packaged and OEM products
in Asia and other markets, and engaging with more partners
and customers with wireless USB solutions on a variety of
RF platforms.
Icron is in a strong financial position with the necessary
resources to fund its operating and capital requirements and
to execute on its growth strategies. During the second quarter
of 2005 Icron completed a private placement of 2.0 million
shares for gross proceeds of $3.6 million, which significantly
strengthened its balance sheet.
