Icron reports First Quarter 2006 Results
(Not for distribution to United States
newswire services or for dissemination in the United States.)
BURNABY, B.C., May 17, 2006 - Icron Technologies Corporation
(TSX Venture: IT), the developers of ExtremeUSB releases information
regarding the management invoked temporary suspension of its
stock, and announces a conference call/webcast to discuss
this information and to announce our First Quarter results
after which time trading will resume.
Due to material information related to its product sales,
Icron was forced to temporarily suspend trading due to the
potential impact of this decision based on previous publicly
stated releases.
Highlights:
- A potential delay in the release of the industry’s
first wireless USB product leveraging Icron’s ExtremeUSB
solution is anticipated. This is due to combined effects
of production delays associated with the manufacturing of
solutions based on new technology, such as Ultra Wideband
(UWB) for high volume shipment.
- Icron continues to believe that its ExtremeUSB technology
offers a viable solution for wireless USB applications and
continues to work with a variety of customers on various
platforms including UWB and 802.11 a/b/g/n.
- Our USB 2.0 based wired extension product line continues
to expand to other media including CAT5, Fiber Optics, Coax
and Power line and continues to gain market acceptance in
an ever increasing application base.
- A recent report by market analyst firm Instat predicts
280 million wireless USB devices in the market by 2010 with
the initial volume of product beginning in 2007.
“While we recognize that the market was awaiting the
release of the first consumer wireless USB product this July,
we anticipate that there may be a delay in that schedule,”
according to Suresh Singh, President and CEO. “Given
the significant impact we believe wireless USB will have on
the PC and consumer markets, Icron remains committed to delivering
our ExtremeUSB for wireless solutions to a variety of partners
worldwide. We also remain committed to our wired USB solutions
which continue to be the de-facto standard for long range
USB extension in our traditional markets.”
