Icron and Inova Announce Reference Design for DVI/USB Extension Solution
Product Being Shipped to Remote Terminal Customers
BURNABY, B.C., October 05, 2006 - Icron Technologies Corporation (TSX Venture: IT),
the developers of ExtremeUSBŇ and Inova Semiconductors, developers of high-speed serial
data communication products announced the industry's first integrated Video/Audio/USB
extension solution and reference design.
Inova's GigaSTaR (Gigabit/s Serial Transmit and Receive) Digital Display Link
chipset is an innovative high-speed link offering simultaneous transmission of
digital video up to SXGA/UXGA resolution (720p/1080i), audio and bi-directional
sideband data. The GigaSTaR chipset extends the multimedia link over standard
shielded twisted pair cable up to 50 m and up to 2 km over conventional single-mode
or multimode fibre optics.
Icron's ExtremeUSB technology, the only USB-IF compliant extension technology,
enables USB 1.1 or 2.0 devices to be seamlessly extended over a variety of wired or
wireless media. It features full USB plug and play functionality, requiring no
drivers or user configuration.
This combination high-resolution video and USB extension solution is ideally suited
for remote terminals and measurement systems used in industrial, manufacturing
facilities and medical equipment markets. Icron and Inova already have multiple
customers for this solution in the remote terminal market and expect many more in
the coming months.
The GigaSTaR and ExtremeUSB reference design is the first solution in a planned
roadmap that targets an integrated chipset designed for larger markets including
consumer electronics, automotive telematics, and enterprise computing.
