Fujitsu Component Ltd. Licenses Icron's
ExtremeUSB Core For Integration Into Next Generation KVM Product
Line
BURNABY, B.C., January 2, 2007 - Icron Technologies Corporation
(TSX Venture: IT), the developers of ExtremeUSB®, announced
today that Fujitsu Component Ltd. has licensed Icron’s
ExtremeUSB Core for Fujitsu Component’s next generation
KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) extension products.
“Icron is excited to extend an ExtremeUSB license to
Fujitsu Component and to provide the core for USB connectivity
on Fujitsu Component’s KVM products” stated Robert
Eisses, President and CEO of Icron Technologies. “ExtremeUSB
easily migrates legacy PS/2 based remote desktop solutions
to USB, improving and simplifying the remote computing experience.”
The integration of ExtremeUSB, a patented technology that
extends the reach of wired USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 connections
over various media including Cat-5 and fiber optics, enables
increased flexibility and performance for Fujitsu Component’s
KVM solutions. By replacing older and less flexible PS/2 connections
with USB, Fujitsu Component’s KVM technology becomes
compatible with the latest USB keyboard and mouse products,
and can offer the full plug and play flexibility of all USB
devices such as flash drives, printers and Web cams.
“ExtremeUSB enables Fujitsu Component to greatly enhance
the usability of our remote computing solutions” stated
Osamu Owaki, Senior Director for KVM Development at Fujitsu
Component. “By providing a native USB connection that
reaches up to 300 meters we can provide a flexible remote
desktop solution for our customers to easily connect and disconnect
a wide variety of devices from keyboards and mice to storage
devices, cameras and portable electronics.”
Specific terms of the license agreement have not been released.
