Icron's ExtremeUSB® Vision Interoperability Program

The AIA (Automated Imaging Association) has recently published a new camera interface for machine vision applications based on USB 3.0 called USB3 Vision™. USB 3.0 cameras feature high-resolution, vibrant colors, fast frame rates and affordability, all of which make this technology standard a compelling choice. However, standard USB 3.0 cable lengths are limited to approximately 3 meters which may cause installation challenges when the camera is located away from the host computer.

To help facilitate widespread adoption of USB 3.0 for machine vision applications, leading vision camera manufacturers have partnered with Icron to create the ExtremeUSB® Vision Interoperability Program. The vision manufacturers listed below have validated their USB 3.0 cameras can be successfully extended by either the USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3001-15, a 15 meter active copper cable for short range extension, or the USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3022 for up to 100 meters extension over OM3 multimode fiber cable. Please check back often as vision camera testing is an ongoing activity as more cameras are released to the market.
