BlueRiver™ Ultra High Definition (4K) video chipsets and ExtremeUSB® 2.0 extension interoperability reference designs available for OEM customers
Burnaby, British Columbia and Saint Laurent, Quebec – September 16, 2014 – Icron Technologies Corporation, a leader in USB and video extension technology, and AptoVision, a Montreal-based company delivering innovative AV signal distribution technologies, today announced joint product interoperability between AptoVision’s BlueRiver™ NT/200 chipsets and Icron’s USB 2.0 RG2300 Core series ExtremeUSB® extension platform.
AptoVision’s BlueRiver NT and BlueRiver 200 chipsets are the only chipsets in the world capable of extending uncompressed Ultra HD (4K) video, gigabit Ethernet, and a full 480Mbps USB 2.0 channel enabled by Icron’s Extreme USB extension platform. Additionally, the BlueRiver NT uniquely supports the switching of these signal types over off-the-shelf 10Gb Ethernet switches with zero frame latency eliminating the need for expensive, proprietary AV switches.
ExtremeUSB is a series of patented technologies from Icron that extends USB data transmissions well beyond USB specification distance limitations. Features of ExtremeUSB technology include transparent USB extension, true plug and play (no software drivers) and compatibility with all major operating systems including Windows®, Mac OS X®, and Linux®.
ProAV customers often require USB 2.0 signals to move in conjunction with video at distances beyond USB’s limited five meter cable distance. By incorporating ExtremeUSB extension through published reference designs, OEM developers using BlueRiver chipsets are now able to utilize a full set of capabilities for a variety of HD video + USB 2.0 applications at distances of up to 100m on Cat-x and up to 30 kilometers on fiber.
“We are extremely pleased to offer BlueRiver plus ExtremeUSB reference designs for our joint OEM customers,” said Kamran Ahmed, CEO and co-founder of AptoVision. “Our developers not only have access to world class Ultra HD and HD video performance over copper or fiber but also the premium standard for full 480Mbps USB 2.0 extension.”
“It is a natural fit to be working with AptoVision,” said Robert Haefling, CEO of Icron. “Applications such as KVM extension, interactive digital signage and full matrix switching all require USB 2.0 signals to move alongside 4K and HD video transmissions without any signal degradation. Developers now have access to the world’s most comprehensive video plus USB 2.0 feature set available anywhere.”
