Crestron’s DigitalMedia™ Incorporates SwitchableUSB™ from Icron Technologies

Crestron and Icron Showcase Full Flexibility for Video and USB Switching at InfoComm13

Orlando, Florida – June 13, 2013 Icron Technologies, a leader in USB and video extension technology, and Crestron Electronics, a world leader in AV, have collaborated on enhancing the newest addition to Crestron’s industry-leading DigitalMedia™ family of video switchers. Crestron has incorporated Icron’s patented SwitchableUSB™ technology into the next firmware update for its DigitalMedia™ system, providing the capability to switch all types of USB devices in conjunction with video signals without compromising performance.

This enhanced capability will be available to Crestron customers in early fall 2013 and can be viewed in action at Icron’s Booth #5158 at InfoComm13 in Orlando, FL, June 12-14th.

Crestron’s DigitalMedia™ is the world’s only complete, engineered digital AV distribution solution and the most extensive audio/video networking platform ever developed. Traditionally, USB extension through AV switching systems has been limited to low-bandwidth USB 1.1 devices or HID-only devices such as keyboards and mice. Raising the bar from HID-only support, DigitalMedia’s latest firmware update supports the integration of Icron’s USB 2.0 RG2304GE-LAN over Network extension system with SwitchableUSB™ technology for switching any USB 3.0, 2.0 and 1.1 device – including webcams, flash drives, and audio equipment – seamlessly at up to 480Mbps.

“DM is a full and ever-expanding product line that is constantly evolving to meet the demanding requirements of the world’s top organizations and facilities. The integration of Icron’s SwitchableUSB technology into DM enables our customers to extend and switch a full range of USB devices in conjunction with video,” said Fred Bargetzi, Crestron VP of Technology.

“Crestron is well recognized as the global leader for video matrix switching systems,” stated Glenn Antonelli, Vice President of Marketing at Icron. “Incorporating Icron’s SwitchableUSB into the DM switcher series reflects their commitment to customer satisfaction and persistence in pushing the performance bar higher still.”
