ExtremeUSB® technology from Icron extends Baumer USB 3.0 cameras
Burnaby, British Columbia – August 6, 2015 – Icron Technologies Corporation, a leader in USB and video extension technology, and Baumer, one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of sensors, encoders, measuring instruments and components for automated image-processing, today confirmed joint product interoperability between the USB 3.0 industrial cameras by Baumer and Icron’s USB 3.0 extension solutions.
The successful USB 3.0 camera portfolio (VisiLine® series, MX board level series, PX series) from Baumer meets the growing demand for higher resolutions and speed in industry and life science applications. The USB 3.0 portfolio provides a wide choice among high-performance Sony CCD sensors with frame rates up to 160 fps (frames-per-second) or Global Shutter CMOS sensors with up to 376 fps.
Icron’s Spectra series of extenders provide the ideal extension solution for all USB 3.0 applications. For short-range operation, the USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3001-15 is a bus powered copper cable that extends USB 3.0 at 15 meters while providing a full 5V, 900mA of current. If longer extension is required, the USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3022 extender system has the capability to extend up to 100 meters and beyond over multimode OM3 fiber optic cabling. Both extenders support throughputs of 5 Gbps and feature locking connectors per the AIA USB3 Vision™ specification. The extenders come with a two-year warranty and include the ExtremeUSB® suite of features such as transparent USB extension, true plug and play (no software drivers) and compatibility with all major operating systems (Windows, OS X and Linux).
“Our USB 3.0 cameras are now well established in the market,” said Volker Zipprich-Rasch, Head of Marketing at the Baumer Vision Competence Center. “Many camera applications require a cable distance beyond three to five meters from the host; with Icron’s ExtremeUSB technology, we are able to suggest our customers two different extension solutions with validated compliance.”
“Baumer cameras are well recognized within the industry for high quality and usability,” said Glenn Antonelli, Icron’s Vice President of Marketing. “By providing validated solutions for both short-range and long-range USB 3.0 extension, customers can have full confidence that the USB 3.0 cameras from Baumer will deliver full performance at distances well beyond five meters.”
