Interactive multitouch films extended over CAT 5e/6/7, LAN and fiber via Icron’s USB 2.0 Ranger® 2301GE-LAN and 2324 extenders
Burnaby, British Columbia – February 1, 2018 – Icron Technologies Corporation, a leader in USB and video extension technology, and DISPLAX Multitouch Technologies, a leading manufacturer of projected capacitive multitouch (PCAP) technology, today confirmed joint product interoperability between DISPLAX’s Skin Ultra and Skin Fit multitouch transparent film overlays and Icron’s USB 2.0 Ranger® 2301GE-LAN and 2324 extender systems. To highlight the achievement, DISPLAX will exhibit the 2324 model in booth 8-G255 at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2018 show taking place February 6-9 at the RAI Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
DISPLAX’s multitouch film overlays are thin transparent layers that adhere to surfaces such as windows, TVs, mirrors, tables and walls to enable interactive capabilities for displays. DISPLAX utilizes high-performance and robust large multitouch PCAP technology to offer the best of breed display touches. The Skin Fit film features a clear and highly transparent touch sensor supporting up to 40 simultaneous touches with a 5-millisecond response rate over a surface area of 20” to 105”, while the Skin Ultra increases the simultaneous touch count to 100 at the same response rate over a 30” to 105” surface area with additional 3D sensors for proprietary pressure detection. Both solutions, which make use of USB 2.0 for power and data transfers, are plug and play and run on all operating systems.
Icron’s USB 2.0 Ranger 2301GE-LAN provides high-speed USB 2.0 extension at 480 Mbps data rates up to 100m over CAT 5e/6/7 cabling or Local Area Network (LAN), while the USB 2.0 Ranger 2324 furthers the extension distance up to 500m using multimode fiber. Last year, DISPLAX confirmed interop with Icron’s USB 2.0 Ranger 2311 extender model. All three USB 2.0 extension solutions come with two-year warranties and include the ExtremeUSB® suite of features such as transparent USB extension, true plug and play (no software drivers) and compatibility with all major operating systems: Windows®, macOS™ and Linux®.
“Our USB 2.0 enabled Skin product line of multitouch films are used in a variety of interactive applications including gaming, hospitality, retail and vending,” said Miguel Fonseca, CEO at DISPLAX. “Often these installations require extension due to USB cable limitations and now we can recommend three different solutions from Icron providing support for copper, multimode fiber or networking depending on the requirements of the application.”
“Global sales for highly responsive touch films have been growing to keep pace with strong consumer demand for interactive touch solutions,” said Glenn Antonelli, Vice President of Marketing at Icron. “DISPLAX is well positioned for continued success by expanding upon the number of applications their multitouch films can accommodate through the introduction of USB 2.0 extension over LAN and fiber cabling.”
ISE attendees are encouraged to visit DISPLAX’s ISE stand 8-G255 to view their multitouch transparent films along with Icron’s ExtremeUSB extenders at the Amsterdam RAI from February 6-9.
