Pointmaker and Icron Technologies Announce Joint Product Interoperability and Demonstration at InfoComm 2018

Live demo of Pointmaker’s CPN-6000 Live Streaming Annotation System extended over a network switch uses Icron’s Simultaneous Users Interaction feature

Burnaby, British Columbia – June 5, 2018 – Icron Technologies Corporation, a leader in USB and video extension technology, and Pointmaker, a division of Williams AV as well as a leading AV manufacturer and app developer for the presentation and collaboration markets, announced today joint product interoperability between Pointmaker’s CPN-6000 live streaming annotation system and Icron’s USB 2.0 Ranger®/RG 2304 Extension Series. Pointmaker’s solution will be featured as part of a live demonstration using Icron’s OEM Simultaneous Users Interaction feature at Icron’s booth (C2014) at InfoComm 2018 from June 6-8, 2018 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Pointmaker’s video marker annotation systems are used in courtrooms, surgical operating rooms, boardrooms, emergency centers, operation control centers, places of worship, television newsrooms, and sports broadcasting. The HDCP-compliant CPN-6000, which supports live video and audio streaming, can remotely switch between nine different video sources as well as execute commands wirelessly from an iPad.

The USB 2.0 Ranger 2304 provides USB connections at up to 480Mbps over 100m of CAT 5e/6/7 cabling, while the Ranger 2304GE-LAN additionally enables extension over a corporate LAN. OEM models are also available to support additional features. Icron extenders include the ExtremeUSB® suite of features such as transparent USB extension, plug and play operation (no software drivers required), and compatibility with all major operating systems including Windows®, macOS™, Linux®, and ChromeOS™.

“USB extension is a common requirement for annotation systems, as touch screens are often placed at some distance away from the host,” said Pat Brey, President of Pointmaker. “Our customers expect exceptional performance and reliability, so we are pleased to recommend Icron’s USB 2.0 Ranger series as the preferred extension solution for our Pointmaker systems.”

“Pointmaker’s annotation systems have the prestige of being used on TV for sport replays as well as in the courtroom for high profile cases,” said Glenn Antonelli, Icron’s Director of Business Management. “We will showcase our USB extenders at InfoComm with Pointmaker to highlight an application whereby multiple users can mark up video in a cost-saving way using our OEM Simultaneous Users Interaction feature over a network.”
