Icron Announces New USB Ranger 422i Fiber Optic Product

BURNABY, B.C., March 7, 2002 – Icron Technologies Corporation (CDNX: IT), a leading provider of extended range, high performance connectivity technologies for the industrial and commercial computing marketplace, today announced the launch of its new USB Ranger 422i product.

With the USB Ranger 422i, Icron further extends its reach in the industrial and commercial computing market segments. Customers in these large markets are rapidly adopting computer operating systems that rely on Universal Serial Bus (USB) for connecting computers to peripheral devices and control interfaces. Icron’s USB Ranger products offer a unique, industry-standard based, packaged solution to facilitate these connections beyond the 5-meter distance limitation built into USB.

In addition to the new USB Ranger 422i, Icron has announced that the ExtremeUSB Core D/L Developer’s Kit now allows the company’s OEM customers to build in the advantages of this technology to their products. As an additional benefit, these fiber optic products offer increased electrical isolation in an outdoor environment.

The new USB Ranger 422i integrates Icron’s ExtremeUSBþ technology and a multi-mode fiber optic link to allow up to four USB devices to be connected over a distance of up to 500 meters. Typical users will include providers of industrial process control systems, Internet enabled/ digital camera- based observation networks and access control/biometrics-based security systems.
