The Imaging Source and Icron Technologies Validate USB 3.0 Active Copper Cable Interoperability

Icron’s ExtremeUSB® technology extends USB 3.0 cameras from The Imaging Source 15 meters

Burnaby, British Columbia –May 29, 2014 – Icron Technologies Corporation, a leader in USB and video extension technology, and The Imaging Source, a leading international manufacturer of industrial cameras, frame grabbers and video converters for machine vision applications, confirmed today joint product interoperability between The Imaging Source’s USB 3.0 cameras and Icron’s 15-meter active copper cable, the USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3001-15.

The Imaging Source’s USB 3.0 cameras are available in color or monochrome with resolutions from VGA to 5MP and can capture video up to 120 frames per second. Equipped with high quality Aptina and Sony sensors, The Imaging Source’s USB 3.0 cameras deliver exceptional image quality, even in low-light environments. The new series features robust, industrial casing (29 x 29 x 47 mm) with a C/CS lens mount, trigger and digital I/0 inputs. The cameras ship with control and acquisition software for Windows ® XP, Vista, 7 and 8.

Icron’s Spectra 3001-15 is a bus powered copper cable that extends USB 3.0 at 5Gbps fifteen meters and features locking connectors per AIA USB3 VisionTM specifications. This affordable and reliable active cable provides a full 5V, 900mA of current and includes the ExtremeUSB® suite of features such as transparent USB extension, true plug and play (no software drivers) and compatibility with all major operating systems, including Windows 8.
