The BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International, Inc.) show caters to information and communications technology professionals specializing in cabling design and installation. USB extension is quite relevant since many USB based applications require connection beyond the limitations of USB’s specified cable distance.
Icron’s USB 2.0 Ranger® 2304-LAN is a four-port USB 2.0 high-speed extension solution with the ability to connect USB devices such as flash drives, interactive whiteboards, keyboards and mice over a Local Area Network (LAN) using existing Ethernet cabling. This USB extension approach saves the installer time and money since separate Cat 5e cabling is not required. The Ranger 2304-LAN supports USB 2.0 throughputs up to 480Mbps with extension up to 100 meters between network switches.
Icron’s USB 3.0 Spectra series of extenders provide flexibility for varying distance USB 3.0 extension requirements. For short range operation, the USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3001-15 is a bus-powered copper cable that extends USB 3.0 at 15 meters while providing a full 5V, 900mA of current. If longer extension is required, Icron’s USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3022 extender system has the capability to extend up to 100 meters and beyond over multimode OM3 fiber optic cabling. Both extenders support throughputs of 5Gbps and feature locking connectors per the AIA USB3 Vision™ specification.
All Icron extenders include the ExtremeUSB suite of features such as transparent USB extension, true plug and play (no software drivers) and compatibility with all major operating systems including Windows® 8.
